After years of operation this distinguished 1970 Headquarters in Albany, New York required expansion and reorganization.  WCGS Architects developed plans to add two floors of new construction over an existing computer room as part of a multi-phase occupied renovation / addition. Lobbies were renovated, a new conference center was developed and the majority of existing offices were relocated and upgraded.  Additionally, the existing roof was replaced along with failing exterior porcelain enamel wall panels.  Mechanical systems were incrementally replaced and upgraded such that the new larger building consumed less energy than the smaller original building. WCGS has subsequently performed numerous interior renovations to the facility, and guided NYSTRS to achieving Gold Certification under the LEED for Existing Buildings rating system.
