Residential Treatment Center
Northern Rivers Family Services
Albany, NY

Phase Two of the Academy Road Campus Master Plan included the demolition of the outdated, fifty-five year old Residential Treatment Center, the construction of a new Residential Treatment Center (RTC), reconfiguration of the parking area shared with the BHC, and completion of the outdoor recreation area updates started as part of the BHC project.  The reconfiguration of the Academy Road campus as part of the Behavioral Healthcare Center (BHC) and RTC projects have transformed the living and health service spaces for both Northern Rivers’ clients and staff.

The new RTC takes design inspiration from the BHC, and uses a similar pod concept for the living spaces.  Each wing of the building has one pod with twelve (12) bedrooms located around a large, central living space.  The center of the building is home to staff offices and a variety of support spaces for the residents.

Construction of the RTC was completed in 2021.
